PUBLIC NOTICE

Pursuant to the Noncoal Surface Mining Conservation and Reclamation Act and the Clean Stream Law, notice is hereby given that Allegheny Mineral Corporation, doing business at P.O. Box 1022, Kittanning, PA 16201 has made application to renew its Industrial Mineral Permit No. 37090302 and its NPDES Permit No. PA0258768 to the Department of Environmental Protection, Knox District Mining Office, White Memorial Building, P.O. Box 669, Knox, PA 16232-0669, to conduct surface mining and blasting operations to discharge treated wastewater into an unnamed tributary to Slippery Rock Creek and Slippery Rock Creek in Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County. The current permit was issued on October 23, 2009 and will expire on October 23, 2019. The renewal does not contain revisions to the existing operation. The permit boundary is described as follows: Beginning approximately 6000 feet west of the intersection of SR-0019 and SR-0422, the permit boundary extends west along SR-0422 approximately 140 feet then turns south and travels approximately 320 feet then turns westward and travels approximately 200 feet then turns southward and travels approximately 1310 feet and then turns west and travels approximately 280 feet. The permit boundary then turns and travels south approximately 1335 feet on Mt. Hope Furnace Road and then travels east along Wilson Road approximately 1080 feet, then north approximately 440 feet and then east approximately 1200 feet. The permit boundary then travels north approximately 1670 feet turns west and travels approximately 1745 feet and then turns north and travels approximately 310 feet to the place of beginning. The permit boundary contains 104.1 acres and is found on the Portersville, PA 7.5 minute U.S.G.S. Topographic Map.

The application, plans and other data concerning this operation are available for public inspection at the Lawrence County Conservation District, Government Service Center, 430 Court Street, New Castle, PA 16101.

Pursuant to the Non-Coal Surface Mining Conservation and Reclamation Act, written comments, objections and / or requests for a public hearing or informal conference may be submitted to the Department of Environmental Protection, Knox District Mining Office, White Memorial Building, P.O. Box 669, Knox, PA 16232-0669 within 30 days following the final publication of this notice.

Written comments, objections, or requests for a public hearing or informal conference to the Department must include the person’s name, address, telephone number and a brief statement as to the nature of his or her objection(s). The application for permit is made under the provisions of the Act of June 22, 1937, P.L. 1987 as amended.
